Like the author's other books, reading this latest installment is an enjoyable process. The characters are deep and the plot feels relatable and meaningful. There are funny moments, sober moments, low moments, awkward moments...like anyone might expect from a school tale. The premise is a stoic, burly kid who's always doing the right thing develops a crush on a girl unexpectedly and then has to figure out how to cope with that...and the complications that arise because of it.This book clearly is trying to be very inclusive of all races and sexual orientations, which I both appreciated and felt a little inundated by, for different reasons. It definitely has more of a liberal agenda mindset to it.That said, I did appreciate some of the messages, like the one about body autonomy - that people should know they can say no and others should respect their space.
